From
the emergency response of our equipment to help our local fire and
police departments, to the pleasure of sponsoring our local community
band in concert each summer, G & S Lyman, Inc. is involved in all
aspects of our community.
Each summer, the community band concert series reserves
“Children’s Night” for our co-sponsorship. That evening, the air is
filled with helium balloons, good tunes, the smell of hot dogs, and the
traditional honking of horns at the completion of a song.
Annually, we arrange for a piece of our equipment to be shown at
the local kindergarten. Children, parents and teachers alike all get a
picture taken behind the controls of a large loader, while being
educated on the safety and use of this equipment.
On
our patriotic side, we may be giving the community band a ride at the
Memorial Day exercises or loaning a generator to run the sound system
at the same event. 2010 was a very special year in the town of Orange.
Our bicentennial year culminated with a parade and celebration in
October. Our company, with assistance from the local Marine Corps
Detachment, sponsored a float with a rendering of the raising of the
flag at Iwo Jima in WWII. Our float won first place in the parade, but
the true reward was watching the many people along the parade route
stand at attention, and indeed shed a tear, as the float passed by… a
rare and special moment.
